Europe’s No. 1 golfer, Justin Rose today joined the illustrious roll call of stars to have played The O2, when he officially launched the 2008 BMW PGA Championship by teeing off from the top of the famous London landmark.
The 2007 Order of Merit winner was joined on a bespoke tee, 50 metres up, by Mick Hucknall. Hucknall will be performing with Simply Red at the exclusive, charity ‘Concert on the Course’ on Wednesday evening at Wentworth Club, Surrey ahead of the BMW PGA Championship which begins on Thursday.
Speaking from the roof of The O2, Rose said: ‘I have played golf in some amazing locations throughout the world, but this definitely has to be one to remember. The BMW PGA Championship is London’s most prestigious golf event, so to launch the tournament from such an iconic landmark is very fitting.’
Hucknall added: This is the first time I’ve played The O2, and I certainly didn’t expect it to be like this! I’ve only just taken the game up, so to get some pointers from Justin is brilliant. I have huge respect for what he has achieved and look forward to seeing how he gets on this week.’
