Awesome concert but not as good as Villa Maria last year. Also I agree that for a very last concert in New Zealand, it was too short.
Looking at the Play Lists for other venues some of them have a lot more songs!!! Why were we short changed in New Zealand!!!
Still think it was an awesome concert and will be sad to never see them perform live ever again :-(
( rather Romy True –love her gorgeous red hair )
It was wonderful watching you from an early age performance up to present farewell concert.
Too short of a concert for the last ever dig willget to see.
Your 1992 Montreux Jazz Festival ( Switzerland ) with your
25 songs performance would have been most ideal.
Nevertheless, we do understand your long 8 –9 mths of tours around the world.
Can’t simply wait for your next solo album.
It is as shame that YOUR OCEAN song on your Taormina Sicily , Italy concert was never published on a CD ‚or even the Italian song you sung on it.
Pls do include those 2 songs on your next album.
God Bless you and your family , and your lovely daughter
Romana .
Watched it, awesome, can’t wait to have your final SYDNEY DVD CONCERT added to my entire collection of your
CD/DVD .
You will be sorely missed indeed.
Your music wakes me up in the morning, and watches your DVD at night , and dreams about it as well.
Can’t get enough of your music .
Take care. All the best
i agree the show was fantastic but i felt at times micks vocals could of been better plus it was a pitty the band didnt have sara brown and dee johnson with them as well would of completed the picture from my point of view but alas me and my partner had a great night ive wanted to see simply red live and now i have goign to miss mick and the boys
Had a great night at Vector I agree the concert was over too soon, the crowd got into it dancing from the start especially around us — we were in row 6, special memories for me and my 2 children(brought up on Simply Red) — we will miss you Mick x
From start to finish the band and Mick were note perfect.
It was like a nightclub at the front. All of the first three rows were up and dancing. Mick was slapping hands with all the fans.
A great concert, short but fantastic. Better than Villa Maria 18 months earlier
Amazing show!
We loved it and it was one of best concerts we have seen!
I agree with Lisa as well. I thought it would be longer, specially because it is the last tour.
I would love to had listened “Night Nurse”!
Best wishes from your Brazilian fans!
First time I’ve ever seen Simply Red live was on TV. Brazil, Hollywood Rock ’88. Funny to think about that since I was 9 years old. But my mom kinda joked by then that I was probably growing up since I was no longer interested in child play, yet I was watching attentively to a Simply Red concert — that man with red dreadlocks singing and getting the groove on in Rio was something worth looking at. Would I ever get to see him on stage? Didn’t think so.
The future — that seemed so distant to me at the time — turned out to be a blessing in disguise that placed me in New Zealand for 2 landmarks on Simply Red’s career. One was the 25th anniversary tour @ Villa Maria — and I was there, of course — http://www.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/image.cfm?c_id=1501119&gal_cid=1501119&gallery_id=104485#6582981 — and the second being the band’s farewell. From 1988 to 2010 I got to learn a lot about the band, grew up with it. My first kiss was on Mick’s birthday. I simply could not miss my chance to say goodbye to a band who was part of me “coming of age”.
I must say I was not only delighted but feel blessed to have been there. It was a give and take. The Vector arena was indeed shorter if we think about it, but Mick was having as much fun as we were this time around. Interacting, joking around, taking his clothes off, dancing along…just because it’s a farewell, doesn’t mean it has to be sad. If we had the power, of course, we’d get him to sit with us, glass of wine in hand, and we’d sing along for hours. But just to have a taste of that night and to be able to say that I was there to say goodbye, it’s awesome.
Missing the band already, so many gifted people — and I can’t forget Heitor TP, I know he’s long gone, but made us feel like Simply Red belonged to Brazil just as it did to Manchester.
All the best on your new venture, thank you for the beautiful years. It was a short yet amazing night, and we were glad to have been part of it. And yes, no longer just watching on TV :^D yay!
Agree with Lisa’s comments about the duration of the show, it certainly could have been longer and some top songs were also left off of the playlist.
This was the 6th time that I have seen Simply Red live, and was a tad disappointed with the sound, usually this is blamed on the accoustics of the Vector Arena, however, on this occasion I definitely felt that Mick’s mic was letting him down…and the replacement mic also did little justice to Mick’s great voice!
In spite of the above, I wouldn’t have missed it for the world…Simply Red = Simply Class!!!
we had a brilliant night at the Vector Arena, Auckland. I did think the show was slightly short. There was a great atmosphere with fans dancing the night away. Ian Kirkham was wonderful as ever. Can’t wait until 18th December when i will be seeing the guys again at the O2 in London. Think i will definitely cry then, in fact probably all the way back to Auckland.
