    Hey Mick,

I missed the Sydney Show mate but I still remember working with your tour about 20 years ago here.

After going to the Philippines in Sept 2011 I watched the DVD of Sydney 2010, Mate you still have it.

We will miss your music Mick, I remember your concert very well 20 years ago and I always will. You will not leave us, will you ??? (It’s in your heart mate) — See you around, Cheers.

Merry Christmas to you and the family.

We were on holiday in Sydney from near Manchester in England and did not know Simply Red were in concert until that day. It was truly magical to see one of the last gigs of one of the best English bands of the last 50 years in one of the most stunning locations in the world. Thanks Mick for the last 25 years. My wife and I will remember that magical night forever.

  3. Jeff P says:

Easily(!!) the best part of 2010 for my wife and I. As others said Mick’s voice remains flawless. With the rain stopping we were all given an unforgettable treat. For me personally it was a joy to see such a happy and talented man soon returning to his family and a new journey in music+life. The gifts given us by Mick will last all our lives.

And I must say damn Ian Kirkham you are good!

  4. Debra says:

    Dear Mick and the Band
I had the pleasure of attending your concert in the summer of 2003 at Taormina in Italy and I was very proud to be an Australian and sitting in the concert at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt and seeing you perform with the worlds most beautiful Harbour and City as the backdrop, your voice gets better each time you perform, it was a wonderful memory and dispite the rain it was still magical.

Goodluck for the reminder of your tour and whatever you do from now on.

Thanks so much for the music and the memories.

  5. Linda--Clemson, SC, USA says:

    Dear Simply Red,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for doing a DVD of one of your farewell concerts!!!! Who says it doesn’t hurt to ask?!?! I will start saving my pennies to get it in time for next year.

This is really great for us fans in the States who aren’t able to come to the concerts and/or who have never been to a live concert. Yes, I’m one of the shocking few [start gasping in shock and horror everybody]. :-)

Continue to have a great time touring and have safe travels.

Again–THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

    Big Hugs to All!!

    Linda

P.S.–For the final, FINAL song to the final, FINAL concert on December 19, can you sing the song EVERY TIME WE SAY GOODBYE? I think it would be somewhat appropriate. Also, I LOVE the way Mick sings American standards. Maybe that could be a good solo project. Just a suggestion.

  6. Kim and Michael says:

OH MY WHAT A WONDERFUL NIGHT. THE FIRST NIGHT OUT WITHOUT THE CHILDREN FOR 14 YEARS AND IT WAS THE BEST!

THANKS FOR STOPPING THE RAIN MICK!

    A magic and awesome night!!
My 21yo old son took me and he was amazed at the performance by SR, considering he had never heard of the Band until that evening…
Thanks Simply Red and your music will live on and on and on!
    Cheers Guys Well done.

  13. Caroline says:

What a fantastic concert. The music was just amazing. The venue was unbelievable ..Opera House behind us, Harbour bridge..just fantastic. The rain ponchos were almost a fashion item but not to be which was great. My husband and I had a great time on 13/10.
Thank you Simply Red for great music over the years.

  14. Paul McLean says:

the simply red concert was the best night of my life. it was such an amazing concert with all of their best songs, it is sad for them to stop playing as a band as they are just so good.

  17. Mugsy says:

    One word — awesome!!
    Fantastic concert, fantastic venue.
Micks voice is still incredible. Eased into their songs & then ramped it up in the second hour & he worked the crowd in fantastically. Would see them again anytime, anywhere!

  18. Angie Planas says:

Inspite of the rain!., the concert push thru!!!

  19. Debbie says:

FANTASTIC, I’m more rock n’roll but what a spectacular gig, sitting at the bottom of the Opera House Steps, Harbour Bridge in the distance and Mick’s wonderful voice, couldn’t have wished for a better evening. So glad I’ve seen Simply Red, well worth it, thank you! Missed my boyfriend though, very romantic!

BTW I’m a Londener, so being at the Opera House in Sydney was extra special, truly wonderful.

  20. Lorraine Riches says:

Absolutely wonderful, the setting was magical and I’m so glad I was a part of the last SR recorded concert. Took my 3 daughters, we all loved it — they thought the band were better live than recorded! Have enjoyed 25 wonderful years in UK and here in OZ. I also went to the Brisbane concert which was great but not as electric as Sydney. (And I’m from Melbourne, emigrated to OZ in 1986). Good luck to the bank and Mick in his new ventures!

  21. Wren says:

What a fantastic show, thanks Simply Red for making my last ever show so great. It has been a wonderful rollercoaster ride this year, tinged with sadness because you will no longer grace our shores. Best of luck with the shows in New Zealand and I hope the rest of the tour goes well.

  22. debby Mohindra says:

Mick we will be at the show in Auckland on Sunday 17th, I am from the street next to where you were brought up by your Dad and I delivered news papers in your street …I thought you were lovely cos you had red hair like me,not because you were famous. (you were not famous then) I have moved to new zealand in June this year and my kids bought me tickets for your show at the vector arena,Me and my husband have your song ‘Its only Love’as ‘our song’hope you sing it on Sunday..goodluck and hope your feeling better.Luv Debby & Arun x

  23. Michael says:

it was just an awesome experience. the rain clouds separated for the main gig, and we felt like we were enjoying the cabaret show they play in the restaurant at the end of the universe. the audience, moved, sang, and became part of the whole experience. the sax and horn phrases seemed a little quaint and dated, but also spirited and timeless. only gripe was that mick said this was it .… after 25 years. it will never be “it”, because this stuff, this beauty, has been created, and cannot be undone. Ever.

  24. Julie says:

    What an Awesome show!!!

After torrential rain, the gods seemed to be smiling on Mick and the band.

Out they came and the rain stopped!!!!

Loved the whole show but especially the classics, Money to Tight to Mention, It’s only Love, Holding Back the Years.……

Danced and sang all night. I can’t believe this is the end. Mick’s voice is as good, if not better than it was 25 years ago.

    Looking forward to the DVD.

Thanks for the music Simply Red.
    Julie

  25. Brian Arnold says:

Well after a wet start to the night it just got better with the band starting the rain lifted, and the tunes rocked the house, It was a fantastic evening and fitting way to see you in sydney, after 25+ yrs a shame that Simply Red is going to fade away in the distance, a top band to the music industry of what can be achieved. From one Mancunian (Macclesfield)to another well done and thanks for the tunes for the past 25 yrs its been fantastic music!

  26. Annie says:

Simply Red simply the best. Not only was the concert superb but Mick even stopped the rain for us! Pity he didn’t stop the rain for Marcia too!

  27. Jenny says:

What a wonderful memorable night… Harbour Bridge to my right, Opera House behind us and Simply Red in front. It rained until Mick came out and then the magic happened. The songs, music, the crowd bopping and singing away. Mick was vocally amazing, the band tight and all sounding crystal clear. Soooo good. It was amazing how many Mums and Dads had bought their kids. It has been wonderful growing up with you. A Farewell night that we will be lucky to relive with the Live DVD as well as our memories. Thanks Mick and the whole band for a fantastic 25 years. Hope the future is all that you wish.

  28. Caryn says:

What a fantastic concert. Mick still looks and sounds like he did 25yrs ago. His energy and enthusiasm were infectious and the crowd was lapping it up.

Brilliant entertainment in a stunning setting. What could be better than dancing to Simply Red with the Opera House and bridge in full view?

    Sydney, Australia

  29. Tina says:

Fantastic concert, Mick in great voice, saw them in 1988 and just as good then if not better.

Great band, great music and great setting under the Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

  30. Michelle says:
