Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! once again a fantastic concert, but i am devastated that i’ll never see you, my all time favourite artist and band, live ever again. I come close to tears everytime i think about it.My deceased brother (49yrs old)of two years, loved you too, and it’s so tragic that he never got to see you play live. I purchased the pen stick so have downloaded the concert we attend in manchester, and my gorgeous hubby bought me the cd and dvd for xmas. your taste in music is the same as mine and being the same age as you and being a red head really makes me feel that i have an affinity with you. have a lovely life, you deserve it! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  2. Many thanks for years of pleasure, from seeing the band live in 1983 at Manchester Apollo and EVERY concert there after in Manchester. I was lucky enough to be invited to a recording at Didsbury some years ago. Throughout my life Simply Red music has been part of many memories. It was a fantastic farwell concert and I wish the band all the very best!

  3. Alan Rea says:

What a concert, and what a truly amazing group! Am proud to come from Mick’s home town, Denton. The video at the beginning brought back some fabulous memories and the lighting were amazing, it couldn’t be faulted. 25 years of Simply magic, I am extremely proud I have been here for all of them, although I were 4 when they started lol. Mick if you and the band read these I would like to wish you all the very best for your futures, there will never be another singer like you or a group with your distinctive sound.
I am going to watch the last concert at the cinemas as I couldn’t get an 02 ticket for the last concert.
    SIMPLY RED FOREVER!!!

    Alan

  4. Well saw SIMPLY RED in EDINBURGH in JULY, with my sister, who i have been going too see Simply Red with for many years now.
Edinburgh concert was excellent as always, and if anyone watched the youtube footage of the dancing man at Edinburgh, who dismissed the no dancing rules, even Mick, noticed him and encouraged him so funny (one of those you had too be there)!
On Sunday i went with my friend Mandy, who had never had the pleasure and experience of Simply Red, other than me raving over every concert me and my sis have been too. Arena packed too the Rafters, and Mick belted out in true form all of his fans favourites, the atmosphere was electric and emotional too, did not want the concert too end. Just live in hopes that Mick may reconsider, after a break with his lovely family. Surprise us all with a reunion, we will all still be there. THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WONDERFUL CONCERTS AND YOUR SUPERB TALENT. A TRUE GENTLEMAN & MANCUNIAN. WISH ALL THE BEST XXX JULIE, MOMANDY

I cannot believe now how I never went to see Simply Red before 12th December 2010. I could quite honestly kick myself for not seeing them in concert before and now will never be able to relive such a memorable night. To say that I was stunned would be an understatement. I was left speechless at ‘Brand New’ .…..perfect, flawless and Simply Fantastic.….thank you Mick and the band for such a great memory x x x x x

  7. julie says:

  15. Alison & Barry says:

What a wonderful evening of live music. Once again Simply Red never fail to deliver and were amazing and flawless. The atmosphere was fantastic and felt very moving knowing this is the last time they will perform in Mick’s home town. After following Simply Red for many years enjoying their music and seeing them in concert at Gmex and Lancashire Cricket Ground, how emotional and sad that it is all coming to an end. Listening to them and having fond memories of our children singing along in the car is so special. Thanks for the great music over the years.

  16. angie & davey says:

Well what can i say ‚we were given an ” early christmas ” present by my daughter ‚2 tickets an overnights stay ‚some spending money ‚and a full tank of petrol .The show was fantastic ‚Atmosphere electric ‚even emotional as the guys left the stage and the crowd clapped ‚whistled ‚shouted ‚pleaded for mick and the boys to come back out on stage ‚wish granted <3 x.
SIMPLY RED = SIMPLY THE BEST ‚Thanks all for 25 years ov memories ‚Health happiness always to you and your families xx

5th time we have seen Simply Red, 2nd time this year– one word– amazing!!!- Mick’s voice has got better over the last 25 years. Cant believe that i wont see them live again– Cannot wait for the DVD of the show, Want to watch it again and again. Thanks Simply Red for all the music, it has been the soundtrack to my life so far !

  18. Alison Pawson says:

It was the 3rd time I have seen Simply Red live and once again I was bowled over! My friend Julie( who had never seen SR before), and I danced and sang and laughed and cried. The music and performance reached our every emotion. Mick thanked the audience for a great 25 years but it’s we who should be thanking Simply Red for a phenominal 25 years of brilliance. You have given me so much pleasure. I don’t want to see you go but I still have the music and those perfect memories. THANK YOU!Alison.

  20. Antony and Sarah Spence says:

What an amazing night we had with you all again, Thanks Mick and all the others for a truly unforgetalel evening!!

  21. Julie H says:

What an absolutely brilliant night. Have been a fan of Mick and the boys since the New Flame album, so enjoyed the atmosphere, the enthusiasm of the crowd and the fabulous set Mick performed. I really enjoyed the way the set was done, some many brilliant songs, loved them all but especially the ballads and also a New Flame. My lovely husband came with me, not such a mad fan of SR as me, he has seen them a few times, but said it was the best he had seen them perform. Looking forward to Birmigham NIA tomorrow, & hoping to go wednesday as well if I can get a decent ticket, it’s my home gig thats my excuse. Also going to O2 on saturday with my son.
Mick, you will be sorely missed by many people, you leave us with some fantastic memories and fabulous music. xxxx

  22. Dianne says:

That was the best concert I have ever been to. All the songs reminded me of certain times of my life because the music has been so much a part of it. I’m very sad that there will be no more Simply Red, but we have so many beautiful songs to listen to and I hope that Mick will continue to bless us with his musical genius. I am in love with that unique voice. Good luck to all the members of Simply Red. xxx

  23. maggie says:

What a wonderfull night. Mick Hucknell at his best. The sound reproduction was amazing, the atmosphere electric. Simply Red put their heart and soul into the concert to make sure everyone would remember the final concert in Manchester. They have always been brillant but they surpassed themselves this time. What a shame it has to end.
Thanks and good luck for the future. Maggie and Paul

  24. Michelle says:

Fantastic! The best concert i have ever been to! My mum came with me and she’s never been to a concert. We were blown away by the performance. They played a great mix of songs, all outstanding. Mick’s voice is so amazing! I’ve been a fan of Simply Red since i first saw them perform on a Saturday morning kids show called No 73. They were in the cellar (!!) and sang Money’s Too Tight To Mention. I was 12 years old and i’ve been a fan ever since! Thank you for a wonderful night. x

  25. Kieth Lemon says:

It were just brilliant last night. I nearly weed in mi pants when ya came on it wor so gud.
    If I don’t see yer through’t week, i’ll see yer through’t window.

  27. daphne says:

After all these years of never missing a Simply Red concert. This had to be the best ever and you could see Mick put his heart and soul into this his home town. The poignant video put together of all thats happened in the last 25 years since Simply Red started was a very nice touch as we shared the best nostalgic night ever and felt that he took the opportunity to thank us.Many thanks Mick for the pleasure you have brought to us with your music.Enjoy having some well deserved rest with your family now.Daphne

  28. Francesca says:

What an incredible night of unforgettable music from the last 25 years, just amazing. Thought it was wonderful to hear stuff we don’t usually hear (Evr’y time We Say Goodbye, Say You Love Me), and the rest, well they just sound better every time they are performed. Can’t believe that’s it now, although I know it can’t possibly be the end musically for Mick. Just very grateful to Mick that he thought to arrange for the DVD as well as the CD so we can recall our special night, hope they don’t edit it too much!!
Thanks agin Mick and the guys for an amazing ride — even my 9 year old son who has never been to a live gig before but who has been brought up with the music loved it which is a great testament to great songwriting that will always transcends the ages. Take care Mick, love ya always xx

  29. Rebecca says:

I grew up listening to my dad playing Simply Red and dancing round the lounge to it when I was a little girl! Last night took me back to those days and it was a fantastic show!! Mick has only got better with age. His voice is no different to when listening to the CDs.…if not BETTER!!! So glad I booked the tickets at the start of the year…and what a worthwhile wait. Great to see Sir Alex Ferguson in the audience and your little girl running to you at the end of the show was very emotional :-)

  30. sue levay says:

  33. sue price says:

what can i say the concert was for my 50th Birthday, cannot find enough words to say how fantastic the concert was absoluteley amazing was my best Birthday present ever. Have been a big fan of Simply Red forever and was not dissapointed. Thanks To Mick and all the Band.xxxxxxxx

  34. kim says:

absolutly awesome the man is a genius a true talent , no gimmicks just honest mastermanship sadly will be missed in this instant fame and commercial crap thats called music nowadays … he is a a legend .lets see who can give a 25 year concert out of the so called stars out there at the monent . mick you rock and you are georgeous a true gent and a british treasure someone we should be proud of !!!! the band also rocked and you rightly so gave them credit for the success !!!!

  35. What a gig they were all in full form one of the best gigs they done, covering all the albums that they done . long way I been travelling with them over the 25 years and from the start Mick in band on the wall days. Thanks for a great night all the very best going to be sadly missed Thanks Bryan

  36. tracey/Sue- Wirral says:

Thank you so much Mick and all the band for such a fabulous show, what an emotional night it was for us all, glad to see your friend Sir Alex Ferguson in the crowd,
You have taken us all on a roller coaster of a journey through our twenties and now into our Fifties-We wish you a very happy ‘retirement’ but sincerely hope that it is a short one as we long to see you performing again!

  37. Brookie says:

Wow what a fantastic evening! Just in from the gig and still buzzing! Great performance by Mick and the band best one I have seen at the MEN! Everyone seems better than the last! Sad to say I only have 3 gigs left to see now from my mini tour then thats it! Hard to come to terms with after 25 years.
Was also good to meet so many Red friends old and new before after and during the gig.
Grateful thanks too to Ian. Dave and Kevin who so kindly came out to chat to the waiting fans after the gig. Happy to pose for pics, sign autographs and chat. Much appreciated by us all guys. Right now looking forward to the NIA concert (will seem strange after going to the NEC on all previous tours). See you there!

  38. Jackie Holland says:

Having seen the band several times before this was undoubtable the best ever as the tour around the last 25 years of their music was beyond words. I was with a friend and her 15 year old daughther who admittedly has grown up listening to Mick and Co said on the walk back to the car that it was awesome and cant’t get over how if anything the live sound was better than the recorded and Micks voice was incredable. The atmosphere was party all the way and althought it was tinged with sadness that this was the farewell tour it was a celebration of all the spectacular work of the whole band, and I want to say that even though some people see simply red as Mick Hucknall and a backing group his total inclusion of all the band members is not only admirable but testiment to the mans humility and proves he is a true gentleman. whilst many bands crave media attention Simply Red have let their music do the talking and I wait to see if some of the ‘super groups’ of the moment will be able to do a 25yr tour. and although I am sad to see this is the farewell tour I am proud to have been a fan and follower of such a honest and humble group of tallented unassuming mucicians. a memorable concert well worth the cost and all the music that have made Simply Red Simply the Best — Thanks Mick and the boys for all the years.

  39. Julie B says:

And so my winter season of Farewell concerts begins and Manchester was all that I had hoped for and more.
Fantastic set, fantastic set list (It’s Only Love — the first song that made me realise that my Mam was onto a good thing in loving SR music; Sad Old Red — I love the jazz / funk feel of this live; You Make Me Feel Brand New — sung with such passion it brought a tear to my eye), fantasic crowd, fantastic atmosphere, fantastic band (‘Kirkie’ especially on form); fantastic Mick (as ever)!!!
See you in Birmingham on Tuesday.
    Love Julie B xxx

  40. su n jon says:

  42. Sharalyn brackall says:

Absolutely amazing! The best music I have ever heard!!! Phenomenal is a word that does not even come close to expressing the quality of this tour! :D x x x
