Today we say “Happy Birth­day” to Ian Kirkham who has played with Simply Red since the Pic­ture Book tour, many years ago.

    hey Mick, Ian, the band.…didn’t listen to your music just too much this week.…sometimes I caught myself hum­ming a tune to the words of my favor­ite lyr­ics of yours though.….I think one of the things I like about your music is that it helps me relax sometimes.….with every­body in the world aching the way they are, just look­ing and hop­ing for a little ray of light (thank you fair­ground) shin­ing through, it’s a beau­ti­ful gift that you give through your music.…a bit of happiness.…I really don’t know how you man­age to keep it up, but I ima­gine there are times when you’re aching like every­body else.….so for those times, and for all of us, may God be there for you and for us, mercifully.….

    hey Mick, Ian the band.….how about those videos from Latin Amer­ica you put up on you tube?.… I haven’t watched them all.….the ones I did watch weren’t too bad.…I kind of enjoyed them.…which is nice.…at least for those of us watch­ing you.….I hope you are hav­ing a reas­on­ably good time per­form­ing as you seem to, and it seems likely to me you are, or how else could you bring such peace and hap­pi­ness to those who listen to you and watch you?.…so any­ways, keep up the good work, and may God bless you, par­tic­u­larly when things get a little challenging.…God be with you!.…I hope I hope I hope.……

    hey Ian, Mick, the band.…I am just thank­ing God with a bit of joy in my heart for your music, which has helped me see the light of God’s love shin­ing in things like the Euchar­ist, the bible, con­fes­sion, prayer and even other people.…your music makes me feel like God is God, and we are not, and that that is hap­pi­ness, and maybe it will all work out in the end.….I LOVE it.….what a joy your tal­ents are for so many.…no won­der so many women “dig” you, like they say.….

    hey you all– Mick, Ian, the band.….been hav­ing sort of a tough time of it in some respects lately.…but you know what?…your music helps make my bur­dens easier to bear…coupled with things like prayer and the bible etc. of course.…surely God must be at work in you all even just a little bit.…how else could such good come from your music?.…

    hey Ian, Mick, the band.….just got sort of a real charge out of listen­ing to some of your music from vari­ous peri­ods of your career.….it occurred to me that some­thing I really like about your music, at least for me, is it makes the truth appealing.….the words of your music dis­till a truth, and that truth might just be heaped on the pile of cliches we’ve all heard etc. except it is stated in a orginal way, with your bright, hope­ful voice, and excel­lent music back­ing it up.…unforgettable.……

    hey Ian, Mick, the band.….nothing too spec­tac­u­lar to say, just still enjoy your music, and find that your it, com­bined with faith and things like prayer, the Euchar­ist, con­fes­sion, the bible, makes life more enjoy­able to live.…at least for me.…..

    Hey Mick, Ian, the band.…just wanted to say that I think you are doing a pretty good job with your music, the tour etc.…. I think that as human beings, you are flawed like the rest of us, so obvi­ously, if people look long and hard enough at what you do, and how you do it, they will be able to find legit­im­ate areas where you have been remiss.…I only hope that you can con­tinue to pro­duce music that has, for me, been very help­ful in my find­ing some degree of hap­pi­ness, and that you all too, con­tinue to find some degree of peace and hap­pi­ness in your lives and music, cause I think it has done, and can do, a lot of good.…so thank God for you!.…..

    Hey Mick, Ian, the band. Just enjoyed listen­ing to some of your music from “pic­ture book”, “home”, “men and women”, and “a new flame”. I also listened to “I have the love” on your my space page. I like the lyr­ics of “I have the love” in con­nec­tion with SOME of the melody on the song. But on the whole I like the song. I think I like it for the same reason I like other songs of yours– i.e. it tells an import­ant truth. The truth you hit on this time, I think, is that if you are a man, to have a woman some­where, some­how, who at least loves you a little bit in some way, is just a bless­ing from Almighty God in heaven. And some­thing we all need.

    hey Ian…Mick…the band.….was listen­ing to “hold­ing back the years” last night and this morn­ing a little.….what a beau­ti­ful song…it’s so deep.….and for me, par­tic­u­larly today, just like the first time I heard it back in the rest­less 80’s, it epi­tom­izes the whole idea of faith, hope and love and does so with a deep sense of peace.….beautiful.…I could have lived 200 years and I never would have had the tal­ent to write such a song that you wrote when you were so young.…peace, Mick, to you and the band for help­ing to give me a deep sense of peace through your music, in co-operation with my faith and things like the bible.…peace.….

    hey Ian.…Mick…the band.…was think­ing today that one of the things I like about Simply Red’s music was that Mick seems to have been true to him­self in mak­ing it for the most part.….like “hold­ing back the years” didn’t sound like any­thing else on the radio at the time in my opin­ion, and when I bought “Men and Women” I thought, “that’s a unique sound” and on and on through the other albums up to and includ­ing “they don’t know” (which I love) off the “stay” album.…so Mick, if you’re just being true to your­self in want­ing to head in a dif­fer­ent dir­ec­tion music­ally, that seems to me to be the reason I loved your music in the first place!.….

    hey Ian.…Mick.…the band…was think­ing today that your music has been there as a bench­mark for vari­ous peri­ods in my life.…I sort of lived the words of “hold­ing back the years” when I was start­ing out liv­ing on my own in 1989.….and then “love fire“and “suf­fer” off “Men and Women” struck chords within me.….lately I’ve finally learned to love the songs “stars” and “fair­ground”, which I had never par­tic­u­larly liked, but , like I say , in the last two months have come to appre­ci­ate very much that I have them in my collection.…so what does the future hold?.….will your new body of music come to have as much mean­ing for me as your Simply Red work does?.….or will I listen to your new stuff and like it, but not be moved nearly as much as by you old stuff.…I think (God will­ing) that you will always have a place in my heart because of your won­der­ful work on the Simply Red music, but I won­der some­times if I will like your new music as much as your old.…

    hey Ian…Mick.…the band.…had one heck of a demand­ing and stress­ful morning.….but after things had calmed down a bit, listened to some of your music.….it cheered me up.….I was left think­ing, “well, my morn­ing was a bit of a night­mare, but I guess all things con­sidered it could have been worse”.…thanks be to God.…..

    Veľmi ma potešilo že Vaše turné bude aj v Europe, v novem­bri budete v Nemecku, Rakúsku aj v Prahe, len mi je veľmi ľúto že neprí­dete aj na Slov­ensko kde okrem Brat­is­lavy mame aj druhé pekné a veľké mesto KOŠICE kam prišli umelci ako Pav­arotti a vo feb­ruári Eros Ramaz­zo­tti, mame STEEL ARENU kam sa vojde dosť fanúšikov SIMPLY RED , sme na východe Slov­enska určite by prišli aj fanúškovia z Maďarska a celého Slov­enska.
    Min­ulý rok som bola aj na kon­certe v Prahe aj v Brat­is­lave ale najradšej by som Vás počúvala vo svo­jom rod­nom meste KOŠICE, prečo nenavštívite aj niečo nové, ľudia sú tu veľmi tem­pera­mentní a srdeční ako taliani.PRÍĎTE TEŠÍM SA!
