Seeing Mick Hucknall at Broadlands was the best night of my life. Mick you are simply gorgeous, your voice and music are awesome. My sister bought me your Farewell album, live at Sidney Opera House and I absolutely love it. All the best for the future Mick. In my book you are the best singer/songwriter and performer this country has EVER produced. Best wishes from Kate Ballam xx

Have seen Simply at least 5 times in various venues, this was not one of the best. Mick and band were as fabulous as ever but why have these stately homes stopped you from taking your own food and drinks in (greed?) Have had some lovely evenings before sitting, chilling and enjoying music. At least got wise this time and did not park at venue. Took friend with me and although they enjoyed the band was not too impressed with everything else, that took the edge off as wanted to show how good these outdoor concerts could be. The public pay good money for tickets do not get too greedy. Have a bar and a couple of food outlets like they used to and everyone will enjoy the event however long it takes to get out of car park.

  3. Karen says:

    Ahhhhhhhhhh. Enough said.

Venue great, weather gorgeous, Mick in great voice. What more could a girl want?

    Loved it!

  4. Andrea and Gerhard says:

    Hi Mick,
we came from Austria to see you in your homecountry and open-air concert. Your voice is so brilliant, nobody can do better. We love you, Mick. The songs were performed perfect as always. ( We have seen you in 2009 3 x in Germany). The weather was incredible and the atmosphere great. And Romsey was such a nice town — first time for us in England.
Thank you again for a fantastic evening and we will see you again in our homecountry Austria.
    love

  5. Chris and Kay says:

What an evening — so different from Hampton Court when it was freezing. The evening was hot, hot, hot just like Mick and the guys. It was a fab evening and why is everyone moaning on about water — we asked and they said no problem. Loved Heaven — my favourite. See you in December at the O2. Our last ever concert — what will we do. Enjoy whatever you do next. Enjoy your family. Lots of love Kay,Chris, Theresa and Denise

  6. dawn Roberts says:

What a fab night.….! Mick I love you. Got to the front of the barrier also. Just loved the keyboard player, what a great character, he was almost as entertaining as Mick.

Didn’t buy any food or drinks at the venue. They confiscated, my cherries, but didn’t offer any other healthy alternatives. Come on Broadlands, you need to step up the mark and give us the paying public a fair deal.

  7. Lesley says:

Thank you for a wonderful evening. Yes the food was not brill and the drinks were expensive BUT everyone knew that fact when they bought the tickets. It was a lovely warm evening, the grounds were stunning and Simply Red were superb. What a group of musicians and what a voice!

  8. Tracey Wells says:

First would like to comment about not being able to take water into Broadlands, you were, we asked if it was ok and they also said if you had special dietary requirements you could take food in too. The concert itself was amazing, we didn’t go to eat we did that in the pub first! We were right at the front on the barrier, our usual spot and what a night we all had. The highlight of the night for me was Heaven, incredible huge last notes, inspiring and moving too, also To be with you, great to hear something different. Band on top form, best musicians we have heard and there had been a few! Can’t wait for Brighton in less than 2 weeks. Mick although you had a bad throat and kept sucking on the lozengers you were still simply the best, we love you. xxx

  9. Fernando says:

We went from Spain to Simply Red concert at Romsey, absolutely amazing!!! We enjoyed very much MIck and the rest of the band just perfect!!
But I must say that we missed the backing vocals, why aren´t they ?? Quite strange, isn’t it?
MIck’s voice doesn’t need any backing vocals but some songs do.

  10. Caroline Farmer says:

Another brillient concert at Broadlands last night, however, I agree with several others re food and drinks, terrible that you couldn’t even take in a bottle of water. Would never go to Broadlands again because of this. Tickets and booking charges are costly enough. Also Mick, I would just like to say, your final tour was last year when I saw you in the Bournemouth International Centre. Will there be another final tour next year, if so, can you make it The Mayflower, Southampton, thanks

  11. Gemma Read, Martin Pounds says:

Simply Red was absolutely amazing, what an incredible voice. The atmosphere and crowd was brilliant, i love how he got the crowd going.
I would love to see him again, considering its his last year of touring, but i am glad we got to see him.
One of the best singers i have ever seen!
    Love you Simply Red!!!

  12. Dennis says:

Hi Guys, i will see the concert on 27th july in italy. can you tell me if the simply red sing all the gratest hits? thenks. Dennis

  13. netty and nick says:

amazing concert,so clear, all my favourite songs.had a thoroughly wonderful time but would NEVER go to broadlands again.shocking organisation and greedy pricing.

  14. Mrs Swinn says:

Simply Red are fantastic and will be sadly missed. However I was dissapointed as the Concert was cut short of 20 mins and was only played for 1 hour and 20 mins compared to Petworth Gardens which also was a better venue and able to picnic and champagne where it was purchased from Sainsburys. Crappy Fast Food which I detest and very overpriced drinks. Will not go to Broadlands again and prepared to travel. This is my 4th Simply Red concert. Bath was fantastic and Brighton. Our 4 friends thought the same. Sorry Mick will miss you but we felt that you could of done more.

  15. Rachel says:

Was a magic concert, sound was amazing and Micks voice fantastic. I actually like the venue, was better organised the night before for leaving the car par so dont know what happened last night and all concert venues rip you off for drink prices and food so nothing suprising, its not broadlands in anycase its outside caterers that get to set the price. Overall fab night.

  16. Mark & Heidi says:

Amazing concert, amazing weather, amazing rip– off(food/drink stands).
Broadlands as a venue? Never again, rubbish! Over an hour to get out of the carpark!

  17. Lesley and Irene says:

We had the time of our lives last night. We both had waited 25 years to see the band and were not dissapointed. What an incredible voice Mick has, the clarity and musicality were spot on. of course the band were incredible too. Pleasantly surprised at the sound quality.…no distortion, brill.

  18. Fabulous evening, as well as being a superb singer Mick is a real performer too, and his band must not go without the highest of compliments! We did find the drinks expensive but enjoyed the curry which wasn’t too badly priced — we thought having a packet of crisps confiscated a bit extreme but must admit it was marked on the tickets that no food and drink would be allowed! All in all a great evening.

  19. Tom Perks says:

What a concert, Simply Amazing! Great atmosphere and we managed to get close to the front! Mick has an incredible voice and energy!

Thank you very much Simply Red, good luck for the future!

  20. Mary Sparkes says:

Fantastic music we should all be thanking Mick and the band for the music he has provided to us for the past 25years, but he was thanking us for supporting him that just sums up the gent and great man and band they are . Totally agree about Broadlands and the shambles on leaving huge park area that is beautiful, yet they had no pointers for remembering where your vehicle was left i just remembered parking by a big tree!!!!!! but there are a lot of trees at broadlands then a free for all to exit, and refreshments also ws a shambles but that did not make it any less of a sheer pleasure to listen to such a talented band, and Diane too . thanks Mick all the best to you for your future

  21. Sarah Hawkings says:

Thought simply red was fab. Broadlands was a shambles. Were not allowed to take in good food or drink. Over priced rubbish to eat. What about dietry requirements? If you wanted sloppy , overpriced junk food you were ok. No onecould see. If people can stand in front of you there should be big screens! Broadlands was just out tomake money not for Anyones enjoyment. Poor venue

  22. mike and mand says:

Absolutely brilliant concert, sound was awesome, cant believe its been 25 years.
p.s. You’ll need to remortgage your house to eat and drink at Broadlands though, absolute rip off!!!!

  23. Pauline Lincoln says:

Loved the concert, brilliant music. Would not go to anything at Broadlands again, though — no drinks were allowed in to the park so we had to pay £2 for a bottle of water. Took our low back chairs but everyone was allowed to push forward and stand at the front blocking the walk through and we couldn’t see the stage. Chaos as we left the car park, there were no stewards showing us where to go and when we finally did see one he told us we could go anywhere we liked. Sorry Broadlands, could have done better with the organisation.

  24. Dave Wilkie says:

Absolutely fabulous evening.….….…..and I have to admit , this was the first time I have ever seen him live and he was brilliant. The sound was top notch, the band were brillian and overall an evening I will not forget for a long long time. If you get the chance to see him “out in the open” do it, you will not be disappointed

  25. andrew foster says:

great concert but do you really think we would go to another concert there to be ripped off by the outrageous prices charged for refreshments

  26. Ruth King says:

Beautiful park, beautiful evening, beautiful music!
Loving the note held on ‘Heaven’. Thank you Mick and the band for a great time. See you on the 19.12.
