Oh wow! What an evening. This was a master class in musicianship. The intimate venue lent itself beautifully to the soul and passion of Mick and the American Soul songs with a sprinkling of Simply Red tunes thrown in for good measure and some new tracks in the mix as well. A wonderfully balanced set which built up in its intensity. Just a fantastic evening. We’ve seen Simply Red many many times since the mid 80′s and this was just great to see and hear something different of the same quality. Thanks Mick and the band – you rocked the Dome last night for sure! Give us more of the same!!

My hubby and me saw the Simply Red farewell concert at the Brighton centre in 2010. Mick looked done in after his marathon tour. But to see him last night, lean and fit, vocally perfect, up for a party with a very loyal fanbase in an intimate setting sent my heart racing. The songs were interpreted in Mick’s unique style and his band played their hearts out. Kenji Jammer wrung the neck of several guitars and made them scream just before they needed oxygen to keep them alive. Nice one Kenji! Thanks. All in all the evening was a perfect mix of Soul classics, Rythm and Blues, Simply Red chart toppers and a sing a long audience that gave Mick a run for his money. Cheers. Hells Bells and Bill.i am.

What a wonderful night! My birthday was made extra special in the amazing surroundings of Brighton’s extravagant Dome – just perfect. Mick’s energy is phemomenal, he has been rejuvenated I think – the dancing, running around, whistle-blowing, hip-swivelling,,,wow!!! Loving it so much – my fourth American Soul show and it’s just getting better and better. The Band are clearly loving it as much as Mick, the whole night was just one long party from start to finish. Thank you all (again) – another triumph. And I still have another four nights to look forward to – what a show! And I must mention Moya – enjoying her, too. A great find. See you all in Ipswich!!!

Travelled down to Brighton to see the show, great venue. Have been a Simply Red fan since the beginning and never thought I would get to see Mick Hucknall live, so this was a real treat. Really enjoyed the American Soul numbers and love the direction he is now taking, going back to the grass roots of soul music. The show was tight, well put together and brilliant musically. Thanks for the night.

He was just amazing. His voice is beautiful – as good live as any of his CDs. He also interracts with the audiance, making it feel intimate and I was made to feel that he was singing to us individually. Just fabulous; will remember Mick Hucknell at the Brighton Dome for ever …
